Obsolete
Alan’s TTIM Stories #32
Projections from science fiction and prognosticators are yet to be realized – an abundance of flying cars, domed cities, elimination of cancer, visiting and colonizing other planets. With all the current advances in technology, we are coming up short in creating a utopia. Human nature is lagging behind.
If we are to believe evolution, humans should be evolving into a more intelligent species. Too many examples of the past few years refute that theory. Civilization is still plagued by wars, obsession with wealth and power, indifference, past questionable choices for national leaders, continued vices, and exploitive sickness masquerading as entertainment.
Striving to create a better world, I believe changes are overdue. In a modern evolving world there are things that should have disappeared by now:
Electoral College (time to let the people decide in a true democracy )
Reality show marriages and entertainment based on personal conflicts (for those with single digit IQs)
High-heel shoes and neck ties (my lack of interest in fashion is obvious)
Beauty pageants – at any age, any gender (child abuse and women objectification)
Cigarettes / tobacco products (slow suicide)
Gas-powered anything (conversion to green energy creates jobs and counters climate change)
Exotic pets (dogs and cats need homes – wild animals belong in the wild)
Ridiculous Olympic events (too many to list)
Cults (can’t we share like interests without selling our soul?)
Bigotry / Prejudice (people are people – really)
Fur coats (in favor of fake stuff)
Sugar-based children’s breakfast cereal (from a donut-loving hypocrite)
Common citizens in possession of military weaponry (does that need explaining?)
Boxing – as a sport (there are physical activities without brain damage)
Mocking New Jersey (I like New Jersey. Have you ever been to Cape May? Glorious!)
The overuse of parentheses (can’t help it 😉
Mindfulness demands thoughtful consideration of what we do, what we champion, the importance of kindness in our lives, and how the above affects others and the world. Positive changes are possible and essential.
Please feel free to add to this list (or attempt to justify retaining items on the list).
