Sea Breeze off the Dardanelles
Alan’s TTIM Stories #48
Listen to the owl in the rafters
A special messenger from Apollo
Cassandra hears whispered tales
Clear visions emerge from darkness
Lost and ignored Trojan royalty
Princess becomes a priestess
Gift and curse from the gods
Troubled prophecies of truth
An abundant land and a giving sea
Fine life of bread, fish, lamb, and wine
Freedom from want, freedom of the spirit
Peace felt in the breeze from the sea
Bliss interrupted by visions
Must endure the folly of humans
Glory of war more cherished than life
Led to the death of us all
Unable to avoid lies of foolish bravado
Blinded by the desires of the earth
Wisdom of the spirit soaked in blood
Names spelled on the ashes in the wind
Became a prisoner in the city
Depended on the strength of stones
Evil felt through the walls
Evil knows no physical restraints
Trust in the will of the gods
Lack of victory in visions
Hollow eyes react to her voice
Warnings unheeded, rejected
Survivors introduced to hell
Perceived pleasure in the next existence
At the moment of demise cling to
Calm memories of sea breeze on skin
How long the memories of death
Grief embedded in our future
Visions and lessons rejected for eternity
Cassandra, speak to us again
