Alan's TTIM Stories

Overlooking Paris

Alan’s TTIM Stories #6

Montmartre welcomes tram riders
In the shadow of Sacre-Coeur
The cathedral takes our breath away
White domes touching blue sky

All of Paris revealed from the terrace
Panoramic scene begs for comparison
What sight is more grand than this
All that we hoped for in view

Vast scene of thousands of gray squares
Of various shapes and sizes to the horizon
Each building occupied by life’s activities
Against a background of everchanging clouds

Our hill is a place to walk, place to dine
Streets narrow and steep
Overflowing with discoveries of charm
An exorcism from anxiety

Wander through a colony of artists
Location the muse of many
A scene of shape and colors
An open-air studio for many purposes

A young student strives to impress an instructor
An elderly artist escapes the confines of a dank apartment
A woman wears a beret to amuse tourists
Collecting enough Euros to dine tonight

Confronted with a canvas stretched on a wooden frame
Elevated by a wooden easel
Purchased at a reclaimed furniture store
An invitation to create

A selection of acrylics spilled out of a box
Some specific colors
Some mixed to perfection
Vibrant colors rival reality

A pile of brushes to satisfy every wish
Incorporating the bright and pointed round
Narrow brushes to include every feature
Others employ extreme impressionism

Heard the phrase: paint what you see
That’s a photograph
Paint what you feel
Scenes connected to your hand

Creating something new, unique
Something you – like no other
Some appreciate chaotic abstract
Or the tedious effort of figurative art

Come back with me on a hill to paint
Bring your brushes and colors
Bring an eye for detail
Open your heart to sensation

Let imagination flow
We found the best place
It’s as much love as a location can give
Touch the canvas and amaze
